What is Moms Blessing Moms?
Moms blessing Moms started in 2017 after I landed on the video above while scrolling Facebook. I clicked on the video and for the next few moments my heart was broken and I could see myself in these women who were hurt and angry but trying to stay strong for their children who were fighting their own battle in the hospital. If you haven't see this video then take a minute and come back... I think you will see exactly why MBM was born.
As soon as the clip ended I called my mom to explain what I had just witnessed. I could barely speak clear sentences and just kept telling her that we needed to do something for mothers who were spending mothers day in the hospital by their child's side. I couldn't bear the thought of how lonely that day would be for mothers just trying to give strength to their loved one.
That phone call lead to a plan! At first a very thrown together plan but I knew it was one that could grow. And I felt deep inside that it was so important to take action and see where this went. Once I called our local children's hospital they confirmed what I had thought. There were no programs that were designed specifically to lift the spirits of mothers.
So that day we decided we were going to put together some gift bags filled with things that moms might enjoy while being in the hospital. We wanted to pamper them and make them feel special for Mothers Day weekend. Since I have spent my fair share of time with our daughter in the hospital I had an idea of items that might be needed. We started a list and started collecting items from our friends, family and church. And this small idea grew into a project that has touched over 180 mothers!
Our first year we handed out 80 bags, last year we did 100, and this year we will be visiting TWO hospitals; Northwest Arkansas Children's Hospital and The Children's Hospital at Saint Francis. The vision is to have a Moms Blessing Moms Ambassador in every state. We know this isn't only a local project. We hope to encourage and bless mothers statewide.
This project takes many people and we have recently started an ambassador program. These ambassadors help us engage their community and roll this out to people who see the vision and want to get involved. This is not a project that could be done without the help of family, friends and community.
We would be honored to have you as a partner in this mission. We can't do this alone and are so grateful for all the support and love so many of you have poured into us to keep this mission moving. If you would like to be part of our 2019 weekend of MBM you can check out our wish list for Tulsa here and Arkansas here. We also have shirts for sale here.
If you are unable to give financially we ask that you would please pray for our efforts and for the women receiving these bags. And of course sharing this blog or our wish lists would be greatly appreciated. We pray that these small bags of items we give would fill their heart with peace, joy and strength.
Here is also a quick clip from Chanel 6 news featuring Moms Blessing Moms in 2018.
Thank you for your support and love. We are so excited for another year of Moms Blessing Moms.
