The Beginning of Blessings

Hi All! And welcome to our first official post for our Moms Blessing Moms blog. I am amazed by the love and support this cause has garnered!

Last year I was sitting at our table scrolling facebook when I saw a video about mothers day. I clicked on it not knowing what was coming. I do wholeheartedly believe God had aligned all of these events for a reason. As the video slowly loaded, I still sat there not realizing the tears that would fill my eyes for the next few moments. Although the video is only a little over a minute, my emotions were going for hours. I felt the loneliness, fear, and anger these moms were going through and it broke me. I couldn't feel this amount of pain and not do anything about it. After I collected myself, I called my mother and started rambling about an idea that I had... What if we could make goodie bags and bring them to moms in the hospital on Mother's Day? We started talking logistics and how we could make this work and then told my mom I needed to call the hospital to see if we were even allowed to do this. I had a conversation with the lady at the hospital and guess what... there were no programs designed to cater to mothers on mothers day. I was both happy and sad, but more motivated than anything. It was Gods way of telling me that there was a need and he intended for me to be the feet to fill it.

Our first year went so well. We delivered 80 bags to moms at St. Francis Children's Hospital in Tulsa. We had some moms who were sleeping so we just left them on the counter and we had some moms who ran and embraced us like they hadn't been talked to in forever. We had one mom who asked if she could have one for her mom because she was there helping with her child. I even got an email from one mother who thanked us over and over again for bringing a smile to her face that day.

Here we are a year later and gearing up for year two! I pray that we make an impact on the moms we get to visit this year. I hope they find comfort in the small items we have collected for them. But most of all I hope they feel the love we have for them. Everyone needs encouragement, everyone needs to feel loved!

Thank you for your support this year and the years to come. We have big plans to expand to others states next year. Please pray for our us and please pray for the women who will receive these bags.

Love always,
Heather Lens

Happy Mothers Day!
